Here at The Family Foundation School, professional dancer, Tom Kovaleski, teaches three different dance classes. These are jazz, tap, and ballet. Tom has received dance scholarships in high school and college. He has danced with the North Carolina Dance Theater, and with the California Dance Company and Cincinnati Ballet Company as a soloist. Tom was also the Co-Chairman of the Dance Department at the Florida School of the Arts. After owning and operating two dance studios for 23 years, Tom came to The Family Foundation School to choreograph and direct shows in March of 1998.
Dance classes here are different from traditional dance classes because you have varied amounts of ability from students who come with different backgrounds in dance. With this in mind, Tom’s goal is to teach the basic fundamental techniques keeping in mind proper alignment and structure. Tom says, “It’s only good if you can do it correctly and properly so you don’t get injured.”
This semester’s dance classes will be performing before the upcoming musical on December 10th. The show starts at 2:00pm, so mark your calendars!
